SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to veterinary science and aims at preventing and treating intestinal infections caused by Gram-positive bacteria, as well as at increasing animal growth, improving amino acid digestibility, enhancing the weight gain relation, and treating necrotic enteritis. What is used is a compound specified in lactylate of formula 1; formula 1: R2-COO-[-CH(CH₃)-COO]_n-R1, or its Na, K, Ca, Mg, Fe(II), Zn, NH₄ or Cu(II) salt, glycolylate of formula 2; formula 2: R2-COO-[-CH₂-COO]_n-R1, or its Na, K, Ca, Mg, Fe(II), Zn, NH₄ or Cu(II) salt, lactate of formula 3; formula 3: HO-CH(CH₃)-COO-R2, and/or glycollate of formula 4; formula 4: HO-CH₂-COO-R2, wherein in the above formulas, R1 is specified in H, n means an integer having the value of 1-10, and R2 means C1-C35alkyl or alkenyl chain which may be either branched, or linear. What is also declared is the use of the mentioned compound for preparing compositions.

EFFECT: use of the declared group of inventions is effective in preventing and treating intestinal infections caused by Gram-positive bacteria, as well as in increasing animal growth, improving amino acid digestibility, enhancing the weight gain relation, and treating necrotic enteritis.
