FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: at mean and maximum loads, air is forced into combustion chamber by compressor while, at low loads and idling, compressor drive is disengaged from engine shaft while air is fed into combustion chamber by pressure difference created between atmosphere and combustion chamber. Compressed air temperature and pressure and compressor operating mode are controlled by varying the gear ratio between engine shaft and compressor drive with the help of stepless variator. Compressor drive is engaged additionally with vehicle transmission drive with the help of controlled coupling while, at low loads, compressor drive coupling is kept engaged. Air fed into combustion chamber is additionally compressed in compressor driven by combustion chamber energy.
EFFECT: use of low-octane-rating fuel, decreased maximum output and torque at maximum rpm.
