FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine. In method realisation two pairs of metal electrodes, installed at fixed distance L and rigidly fastened on dielectric bearing base, are applied to examined body section. Alternating measuring current is transmitted through electrodes and value of electric resistance R of examined body section is determined. Value of thickness A of subcutaneous fat layer on examined body section is calculated by formula: Δ=πRL2/16 ρf, where ρf is specific electric resistance of fatty tissue at measuring current frequency. Device contains two or four pairs of metal electrodes, connected via controlled demultiplexors with controlled source of measuring current, voltage meter, analogue-digital converter, microprocessor, manual power switch and digital and sound indicators. All mentioned elements are installed in one dielectric case with windows for digital indicator and power switch, pairs of electrodes being fixed outside one or two case walls and made projecting above respective wall plane.

EFFECT: device makes it possible to increase accuracy and convenience of measurement of fat layers.
