SUBSTANCE: illumination device (12) has a hot-cathode lamp (17) which is a source of light, a chassis (14) holding the lamp (17) and a having an opening (14b) such that light passes through it from the hot-cathode lamp (17), a diffuser (30) which is an optical element (15) which is designed to face the hot-cathode lamp (17) and cover the opening (14b), and a support element (20) supporting the diffuser (30) on the side of the hot-cathode lamp (17). A section of low light reflecting capacity is provided on the section of the diffuser (30), which covers the support element (20) (section for covering the support element). At least the surface of the section of low light reflecting capacity, which faces the hot-cathode lamp (17), has light reflecting capacity lower than the adjacent section adjoining the section of low light reflecting capacity.
EFFECT: reduced non-uniform brightness.
