FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method involves collecting samples of bioindicators, drying said samples to constant weight, extracting an averaged sample, determining general content of cadmium therein; the bioindicators used are leaf samples of goat willow (Salix caprea L.) and/or snap willow (Salix fragilis L.); the samples are collected during the entire vegetation period in an amount equal to 1 sample per 1000-5000 ha for a large region and 1 sample per 100 ha for a local region and 1 sample per 100 m for an alluvial plain. Gross cadmium is determined by flame atomic adsorption, and the obtained results are compared with set values, from the exceedance of which the environmental status of the territory is determined. Comparison is carried out using values of background content of strontium in air-dry mass of willow leaves in the range of up to 0.6 mg/kg, for a risk zone - from 0.6 to 1.2 mg/kg and for a crisis zone - from 1.2 to 2.8 mg/kg.
EFFECT: high representativeness of monitoring results, enabling regular monitoring evaluation of region with a virtually unlimited area while reducing labour input.
