FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of evaluating environmental pollution using beekeeping products involves taking samples of honey and beebread from beehives in the territory under investigation during the season of flight activity of bees. Content of heavy metals in said samples is then determined via atomic absorption spectrometry and then compared with recorded data on background values. Multiple samples of honey and beebread are taken in order to determine background and basic levels of concentration of heavy metals characteristic for that region. Further, pollution levels are graded (classes). Data on each monitoring point are compiled with said gradation and the ecological state of the territory under investigation is assessed with respect to pollution of the region with heavy metals.
EFFECT: possibility of simultaneous monitoring of content of toxic elements in honey and beebread, improved monitoring of the state of the environment subject to industrial impact, wide range of bioindication methods.
