FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: display device, which provides driving with inversion of polarity of the common electrode, has a common electrode drive circuit. The output stage (11) of the drive circuit has output sub-stages (11a, 11b) configured to apply voltage across the common electrode (103). Each period of applying common electrode potential of each polarity consists of half periods, and voltage is applied across the common electrode (103) during each of the half periods by at least one of the output sub-stages (11b) selected for each of the half periods. The full load capability of the initial sub-stage (11b), which consists of at least one output sub-stage (11b) from the selected during a half period, including the beginning of the change in polarity of the common electrode potential, is less than the overall load capacity of the end output sub-stage (11a), which consists of at least one output sub-stage (11a) selected during the same half period when the resultant common electrode potential for each polarity is applied across the common electrode.
EFFECT: efficient suppression of electromagnetic noise arising during inversion of the common electrode potential.
