FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: refractometer has a source of quasi-monochromatic light, a measuring prism with a known refraction index, a diaphragm and a lens in the focal plane of which there is device for determining shift of the image of the light and shadow boundary. Between the measuring prism and the analysed substance there is a wedge which is in form of a cylinder with entrance and exit polished surfaces, the thick end of which faces the light source. The plane of the exist face of the measuring prism is perpendicular to the edge of the cylinder; the mounting of the measuring prism is spherical and is pressed in a pipe by grooves of the mounting to protrusions of the diaphragm by a screw and a spring.
EFFECT: invention simplifies the design of the measuring prism, reduces the weight and size of the refractometer.
