FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method is implemented in rolling conditions and comprises selection of initial diameters of profiling shaft and shaping cutter billet and graphic designing of shaping cutter at locating initial circles of shaping cutter and profiling shaft so that their centers are not located inside each other with distance centers equal to the sum of radii of said initial circles. It comprises also applying reticule of radial rays on said initial circles to divide them into equal parts. It includes defining shaping cutter profile in one complete rolling of profiling shaft with correction nearby shaping cutter center as the sum of projections of profiling shaft contour on shaping cutter billet as line approximating the most proximate points of profiling shaft traces to initial diameter of shaping cutter billet circle. To up the precision of shaping cutter contour profiling shaft initial circle diameter is set equal to its inscribed or circumscribed diameter while diameters of initial circles of profiling shaft and shaping cutter billet are set equal.
EFFECT: higher precision of shaping cutter contour.
