FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical industry, particularly, to production of polyoctene. It may be sued for making anti-turbulence additives for reduction of hydrodynamic resistance, glue compositions, roofing materials, pavements and polymer dyes. Polyoctene lumps are immersed in cryogenic fluid containing isopropyl alcohol in amount of, at least, 100 ml/kg of polyoctene to subject them to destructive effects of high-voltage discharges of energy selected from the following ratio: 45 J1/2·s/m < W1/2·(E·ρ)/(L·σρ) < 80 J1/2·s/m, where W is discharge energy, J; E is Young module, N/m2; ρ is material density, kg/m3; L is electrode gap, m; σρ is material breaking point, N/m2.
EFFECT: pure polyoctene powder with no foreign admixtures, lower power consumption.
