ELECTROMAGNETIC ARRESTING GEAR Russian patent published in 2013 - IPC B63G11/00

Abstract RU 2489309 C2

FIELD: transport.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to aircraft engineering, namely, to electromagnetic arresting gear. Electromagnetic arresting gear comprises electromagnet designed to displace in square-section iron tube arranged vertically over the entire length on aircraft carrier top deck aft to its keel. In aircraft braking, braking cable connected with energised electromagnet starts displacing the latter inside iron tube. Note here that electromagnet is attracted by its electromagnetic field to tube faces to develop sliding friction there between to brake aircraft by braking cable. Identical tube is amounted at opposite side of deck aft. Bothe tube with electromagnets are interconnected by braking cable.

EFFECT: higher efficiency of braking.
