SUBSTANCE: method involves adding a composition of a hydrogen sulphide scavenger to asphalt. The hydrogen sulphide scavenger contains a polyaliphatic amine of formula 1: H₂NRNH - (RNH)_n - H (1), where R is an aliphatic radical and ranges from 0 to about 15 and a catalyst of formula 2: R₁R₂R₃R₄N⁺X^- (2), where each of R₁, R₂, R₃ and R₄ independently represents an alkyl group containing 1-20 carbon atoms, a hydroxyalkyl group containing 1-20 carbon atoms, or an aryl group containing 6-20 carbon atoms and X represents a halide or methyl sulphate. Asphalt is treated with said composition.

EFFECT: low content of hydrogen sulphide in asphalt.
