FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: induction motor braking apparatus is designed for use in electric drives which require fast and reliable stopping and fixing the mechanism in disconnected state. The apparatus has a three-phase mains with a neutral wire, an induction motor with phase windings; a capacitor is connected between the end of the first phase winding of the induction motor and the neutral wire; a switching element with a control unit and a coil for mechanical braking are connected in series between the end of the first phase winding and the combined clamp of the ends of the second and third phase windings.

EFFECT: high reliability and broader functional capabilities, which is achieved by enabling fixation of the position of the mechanism after disconnection thereof from the mains.
