FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method of obtaining fire-proof ceramic material based on hafnium oxide and can be used in contact with melted material of nuclear reactor active zone. Method of obtaining fire-proof material includes successive stages: obtaining dry mixture of hafnium dioxide HfO2 and yttrium oxide Y2O3 powders, granulation of dry mixture by rolling in mixing with obtaining granulated mixture, where granulation is performed by dispersion of water solution, which contains polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and polyethylene glycol (PEG) into dry mixture, drying granulated mixture, filling mould with granulated mixture, isostatic or semi-isostatic pressing granulated mixture with obtaining fire-proof ceramic material, which has solidus temperature 2500÷2800°C. Obtained material contains 0.5-8 wt % of yttrium oxide, non-connected to each other open pores and closed pores in quantity not less than 3%.
EFFECT: increased crack-resistance of fire-proof material in case of cyclic increase of decrease of temperature within the interval 1500-1800°C.
