FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method of polishing burnt ceramic product, such as brick, tile. Method of polishing the surface of burnt ceramic product includes application of hardening/compacting substance, which includes mixture of at least one hydroxide and at least one silicate, or at least one hydroxide and dioxide of silicon on ceramic surface of burnt ceramic product. After that hardening/compacting substance is held in contact with the surface for time period sufficient for compound to soak into and react chemically, thus to harden/compact the surface, with further surface polishing.
EFFECT: obtaining denser and harder polished surface.
