FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: gas turbine unit comprises, at least, one compressor to compress air injected via inlet channel, at least, one combustion chamber and, at least one turbine. Compressed air is mixed in combustion chamber and combusted with gaseous fuel composed of different gases forced therein. Said turbine converts the power of combusted gas exhausting from combustion chamber into work. In compliance with proposed method minimum fluid flow rate is set for fuel fed in combustion chamber. First attempt of ignition is undertaken. Said minimum fluid flow rate is set to sufficient level for ignition of the richest possible air-fuel mix. Fuel flow rate is gradually increased. Further attempts of ignition unless a complete ignition of air-fuel mix are and turbine start are undertaken or unless preset maximum fuel flow rate is reached.

EFFECT: safe and efficient starting of gas turbine.
