FIELD: internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to engine-building, in particular to the power systems of internal combustion engines (ICE) with spark ignition. Method for supplying fuel to an internal combustion engine is proposed, in which liquid fuel or a mixture of fuels from fuel tank 11 is fed to steam generator 9 and 7 through the standard vehicle fuel system, in the steam generator with the estimated capacity, a gas-air mixture of a given temperature is obtained in the calculated volume proportion of the mixture, which is fed into combustion chamber 13 through intake air manifold 2 during the suction stroke. In the combustion chamber, the walls of which are covered with a catalyst, due to the pressure and temperature of the supplied gas-air mixture, the reaction of the combined conversion of lower alkanes forming part of the gas-air mixture to hydrogen and carbon monoxide (synthesis gas) is initiated. Compression stroke ensures ignition of the gas-air mixture when the standard ignition system is triggered.
EFFECT: improved fuel efficiency and reduced engine toxicity.
