FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for heating of blast-furnace air heater. Method includes steps at which fuel is burnt by oxidiser in combustion chamber air heater using low-grade fuel with combustion heat of not more than 9 MJ/Nm3, is fed gaseous combustion products from combustion chamber in air heater for heating of refractory material. Fuel is burnt by oxidant containing at least 85 % of oxygen, wherein released gaseous combustion products are subjected to circulation in combustion chamber to dilute mixture therein of said fuel and oxidiser in amount sufficient for combustion temperature without damaging refractory material in air heater.
EFFECT: invention increases heat efficiency of blast-furnace air heaters due to maintenance of moderate flame temperature in combustion chamber air heater.
