SUBSTANCE: radio frequency coil has an annular conductor or parallel annular conductors configured to support: distribution of uniform electric current which forms a first field B1 (B1,uniform) at a first magnetic resonance frequency directed from the plane of the annular conductor(s); and distribution of sinusoidal electric current which forms a second field B1 (B1,sinusoidal) at a second magnetic resonance frequency directed in parallel to the plane of the annular conductor(s). A magnetic resonance scanner contains: a magnet which forms a static magnetic field (B0); a system of magnetic field gradients configured to superpose selected magnetic field gradients on the static magnetic field. The radio frequency coil includes an annular conductor or parallel annular conductors.
EFFECT: obtaining double resonance using one surface coil, fewer coils used when collecting magnetic resonance data.
