FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biochemistry. Disclosed is a method of separating polymyxin B, which is produced by spore-forming bacteria Bacillus polymyxa. A native solution obtained after separating biomass from culture fluid is purified using a macroporous strongly acidic cationite. Polymyxin B is eluted, a Polymyxin B base is deposited and transferred to polymyxin B sulphate solution. Final purification of the solution is carried out in a sulphonic acid cationite and then dried. The macroporous strongly basic cationite used is Dowex-MSC-1 and the sulphonic acid cationite is KU-2-20.
EFFECT: method enables to obtain pharmaceutically pure substance polymyxin B, which meets international quality requirements, while increasing antibiotic output and simplifying the production process thereof.
