FIELD: fire-prevention facilities.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of inerting and to the inerting system (1) for prevention and/or extinguishing fire, at that the gas separation system (3, 4) is proposed for establishing and/or maintaining the predetermined oxygen content reduced in comparison with the natural atmospheric air in the atmosphere of the closed premises (2). At that the said system separates at least part of the oxygen contained in the initial gas mixture of nitrogen/oxygen, to obtain a nitrogen-containing gas mixture at the outlet (4a) of the gas separation system (3, 4). To establish and maintain a predetermined level of inerting at the lowest possible energy consumption, the invention provides a control device (5) made with the ability to control the gas separation system (3, 4) so that the residual oxygen content in the nitrogen-containing gas mixture is changed as a function of the oxygen content prevailing at the moment in the atmosphere of the closed premises (10).
EFFECT: providing the ability of continuous inerting, while simultaneous reducing energy costs for inerting of the closed premises.
