SUBSTANCE: method relates to determination of roughness parameter Ra in steel machining with measurement of thermal electromotive force. To up the accuracy of roughness parameter Ra determination, trial cut is performed to measure parameter thermal electromotive force to define correction factor of mechanical properties of cutter-part pair while roughness parameter Ra is defined by measured thermal electromotive force by enclosed formula.

EFFECT: higher accuracy of determination.
