FIELD: machining; operation of NC lathe in manual (adjustment) and automated modes. SUBSTANCE: components of cutting force are determined for calculation of clamping forces ((Pz)) of parts and permissible sagging ((Py)) of parts in finish and semi-finish turning. For determination of cutting force components, short-duration test pass by cutting tool is performed to measure thermo emf. Thermo emf thus found is used for determination of correction for physical- mechanical properties of contacting pair and geometry of tool. Cutting force components Pz, Py and Px are determined on basis of found thermo emf and working parameters of cutting process (t, S, V) by the following formulae: Pz= (Az+KzE)t1S0,75V-0,15, kgf; Py= (Ay+KyE)t0,9S0,6V-0,3, kgf and Px= (Ax+KxE)t1S0,5V-0,4, kgf. Method enhances accuracy of determination of cutting force components by automated (programmed) way due to taking into account variations of physico-mechanical properties of steels to be machined, their hardened state in the course of cutting and thermophysical properties of cemented-carbide tools both in Grades of solid alloy and inside Grade composition.
