SUBSTANCE: optical communication system which connects a plurality of user-side optical line terminal apparatus (hereinafter referred to as ONU) with a station-side optical line terminal apparatus (hereinafter referred to as OLT) using a common optical fibre, wherein the ONU, as at least part of ONU, includes a transceiving device, having an power-saving function for inactivating the transmitting module when supplying the receiving module with electric power, and a control device which transmits power-saving function support information to the OLT through the transceiving device, and the OLT includes a control device which generates information for allowing transmission during uplink communication based on power-saving function support information, and a transceiving device which receives power-saving function support information and transmits information for allowing transmission to the ONU.

EFFECT: high efficiency of power-saving by controlling the power-saving mode during intermittent communication.
