SUBSTANCE: during a first mode, signal potentials having the same polarity and the same brightness level are applied to pixel electrodes connected to corresponding two pixels which correspond to two adjacent signal scanning lines, and which are adjacent to each other in a column direction, and the direction of change in signal potentials recorded by the pixel electrodes changes every two adjacent rows (driving with inversion of 2 lines). During a second mode, the direction of change in signal potentials recorded by pixel electrode lines changes every one row (driving with inversion of 1 line).
EFFECT: providing a display device without reducing the quality of display, alternately switching between a first mode in order to display by converting video signal resolution with a coefficient n and a second mode in order to display by converting video signal resolution with a coefficient m.
