FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: device has a liquid crystal layer between a substrate of a thin-film transistor array and an opposite substrate, and at least one electrode. The substrate of the thin-film transistor array includes a transparent substrate; source lines and gate lines; a conducting portion in a pixel, defined by source lines and gate lines; and an insulating film covering said conducting portion and provided by a contact opening which electrically connects the electrode on the substrate of the thin-film transistor array among at least one electrode and the conducting portion through the insulating film. The opposite substrate has a protrusion which propagates from one end to the other end of the pixel. At least one electrode is provided with at least one slit between the contact opening and the pixel boundary.
EFFECT: high efficiency of display.
