SUBSTANCE: liquid crystal display device has a plurality of pixels, each having at least a first electrode (21) having a first corner portion with a first edge parallel to the row direction, and a second edge parallel to the column direction, as well as a first substrate having an electrode layer (e.g. a counter electrode (18a) of a memory capacitor) which overlaps at least a portion of the first edge and at least a portion of the second edge of the first corner portion.
EFFECT: preventing image quality deterioration caused by violation of alignment of liquid crystal molecules near the edge of the first electrode.
