FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: electric arc furnace 4 comprises molten steel chamber 8, furnace roof 12 that covers said chamber 8 and confines steel scrap bulk, electrodes 15 to smelt steel scrap, and support 20 mounted at bed 24. Chamber 8 rests on support 20 to swing about rotational axis X-X. Roof 12 and chamber 12 have complementary profile that forms the axis of rotation about X-X axis. In swinging of chamber 8, roof 12 stays fixed relative to bed 24, said chamber being closed.
EFFECT: compact design, ruled out gas leaks.
