METHOD OF TEMPORARY POST-TRAUMATIC IMMOBILISATION OF JAWS Russian patent published in 2013 - IPC A61F5/05

Abstract RU 2496453 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, in particular to dentistry and is intended for temporary post-traumatic immobilisation of jaws. Impressions from both jaws and detectors of occlusion are obtained. Gypsum models are produced and fixed in occluder. Orthodontic rings for fixation on first and second molars of upper jaw, and first molars and first premolars of lower jaw, are produced by models. Orthodontic rings for fixation in upper jaw are soldered between each other. Connective metal bushes are soldered on vestibular surfaces of rings. Obtained constructions are moved into patient's oral cavity and fixed on glass ionomer cement. Bushes of upper and lower jaws are connected by steel spring by means of steel spring. Length of spring corresponds to patient's habitual occlusion and works for release by means of rings, which make it possible for spring to slide when mouth opens. Entire construction is removed immediately before operation on reconstruction of joint processes and heads of lower jaw.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to temporary immobilise jaws in case of fractures of joint processes in pre-operation period due to application of segmental splints with sliding fixation.
