FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy. Proposed method is intended for rolling 0.7-20 mm-thick strips from steel that allows production of 30-140 mm-thick slabs. Rolling unit 10 comprises continuous casting unit 11, tunnel furnace for leveling temperature and possible heating, rolling line roughing line of 1-4 rolling mill stands 18a, 18b, 18c and finishing line of 3-7 stands 21a-21e. Fast-heating unit 20 with selective switch-on components is arranged between said roughing and finishing lines. For every arrangement of rolling unit 10 the position of fast heating unit 20 defining the number of roughing stands 18a, 18b, 18c and that of finishing stands 21a-21e calculated depending on the product of thin slab thickness and slab transfer rate is the function of required production per hour (t/h). Proposed method is implemented either as individual coil rolling, or in semicontinuous mode or in continuous mode.

EFFECT: possible temporary stopping without interrupting of casting and without reduction in process efficiency.
