FIELD: radio engineering, communication.

SUBSTANCE: method of localising noise emission areas on the length of a moving vehicle involves receiving signals at two arbitrary points of the wave field thereof, band-pass filtering of the received signals, delaying the signal from the output of the receiver close to the path of the vehicle by a value equal to the maximum relative delay of the received signals, determining the correlation function between the obtained signals and convolution thereof with a function having a spectrum which is the inverse of the spectrum of the correlation for an independent point noise emission source, after filtering the received signals at a changed frequency and delay the filtered signals and the correlation function are frequency-multiplied a number of times equal to the ratio of the initial and changed filtering frequency.

EFFECT: high accuracy of localising noise emission areas of a moving vehicle.
