FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of granulated zeolite A which can be used to separate mixtures of hydrocarbons on a molecular level, for drying and cleaning gas, for removing metal cations and radionuclides from water streams. In order to produce metakaolin, kaolin is first annealed at temperature 500-850°C for 1-8 hours. A mixture of kaolin and powdered zeolite A, metakaolin and starch is them prepared, with the following ratio of components in wt %: powdered zeolite A 10-30, metakaolin 30-50, starch 1-2, kaolin - the rest. The mixture is moistened, stirred and granulated. The granules are dried, annealed, crystallised, washed and dried.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain high phase purity zeolite A which is granulated without binder and which has high mechanical strength and packed density.
