FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: peripheral blood of the pregnant women suffering cytomegaloviral infection in the third trimester of gestation is examined for the count of erythrocytes stained in 0.1% methylene blue used as an electron carrier; the erythrocyte methemoglobin concentration is determined. If the cytomegalovirus antibody titre of 1:1600 is accompanied by an increase of the stained erythrocyte count up to 12.0±0.9% and the methemoglobin concentration up to 1.5±0.42%, disturbed methemoglobin recovery and threatening erythrocyte hemoglobin oxygenation are stated.
EFFECT: more accurate assessment of the action of cytomegaloviral infection on the methemoglobin concentration in peripheral blood erythrocytes of the pregnant woman in the third trimester of gestation.
