FIELD: agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to breeding and selection of cattle of meat productivity and can be used in pedigree and commercial beef cattle breeding. The method comprises methods of inter-breeding, inter-herd selection, which provide a simplified pedigree evaluation and a more reliable selection of cows with high milk productivity contributing to an increase in body weight of weaned calves, that lead to better efficiency of feed consumed, characterised by the index of production value (IPV) of up to 7% indicating a low, and more than 8% of the high economically useful properties of cows of meat production. The calculation of the IPV is calculated as follows:
EFFECT: method provides a simplified pedigree evaluation and more reliable selection of cows with high milk productivity contributing to an increase in body weight of weaned calves.
