SUBSTANCE: invention relates to beef cattle breeding. Method of stocking a herd of beef cattle of the desired type provides determining and predicting breeding value of cows, and also takes into account selective significance and economic characteristics of separate economic useful features. Method allows selection of cows with a pedigree value index from 49 points to a breeding core, and from 75 points and more to a selection core. Index of breeding value is determined by formula CPI = M_n + D_n + Z_n + A_n + H_n, where M is milking (live weight of offspring at weaning of 205 days), score; D - live mass of offspring in 12 months, score; Z - reproductive capacity by inter-oestal period, score; A is live weight of meat cow, score; H is meat cow sacrum height in case of external evaluation of 85 points and higher; n - 1:2:3 gradation of development of selection criteria, score.

EFFECT: method allows more accurate prediction of meat breeds efficiency achievement.
