FIELD: biotechnology; dairy cattle breeding.
SUBSTANCE: invention is a method of completing a herd of dairy cattle with desired characteristics in order to determine the purpose of the animal in the herd (nucleus, breeding core or commercial herd) and includes the calculation of the breeding value index. Animals that have received a breeding value index of more than 65 points are determined as the breeding core, from 50 to 64 points as the nucleus core, and those having a breeding value index of less than 50 points are excluded from breeding and used in a commercial herd.
EFFECT: selecting cows with high milk yield, high fat and protein content in milk, as well as high reproductive performance, which improves reliability and reduces the time for obtaining a herd of dairy cattle with desirable characteristics.
