SUBSTANCE: method of selecting multifocal contact lenses according to the invention includes the following steps: a) estimating potential success in selecting multifocal lenses for a specific patient, which involves calculating a satisfactory index using conventional vision correction means; b) determining the primary and secondary eye of the patient; c) measuring apparent refraction for each eye of the patient; d) determining the required additional optical power for the patient; e) selecting a multifocal contact lens for each of the primary eye and secondary eye of the patient; f) estimating visual needs of the patient depending on lifestyle and specifying lens selection performed at step (e) for the primary eye, for the secondary eye or for both eyes based on results of said estimation.
EFFECT: faster lens selection with more success compared to standard methods.
