FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing nitrodiphenylamines of general formula , where the nitro group can be in the ortho-, meta- or para-position relative an aniline moiety. The method involves reacting aniline with nitrohalobenzenes of general formula C6H4(NO2)X, where X = Cl, Br, I, at temperature of 100-200°C with simultaneous azeotropic distillation of water in the presence of a hydrocarbon solvent which forms an azeotrope with water and a suitable boiling point, in the presence of a base and a catalyst prepared from copper (I) and (II) compounds and 1,3-dialkylimidazolium salts of general formula , where R1, R2 are linear or branched alkyl substitutes C1-C10, An- is an anion of an inorganic acid in both the medium of the starting aniline and without. The catalyst is prepared by directly reacting the copper compound and the imidazolium 2 salt at temperature of 120-300°C.
EFFECT: method enables to obtain desired nitrodiphenylamines with high selectivity and output.
