FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: change in intensity of gamma-radiation from the deposit is measured, wherein specific activity of said deposit differs from that of the liquid phase of the separated suspension. Change in radiation intensity is a function of the volume of the deposit and is measured by a detector. A formula is given for calculating the volume ratio of the deposit in the centrifuge depending on the exposure dose rate from the suspension, from the deposit and based on specific activity of the caesium-137 isotope in nuclear fuel.
EFFECT: enabling monitoring of accumulation of a radioactive deposit in a centrifuge when separating suspensions obtained from dissolving spent nuclear fuel.
