FIELD: power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: column unit of an isotope generator comprises a tower, which contains a parent radionuclide, which spontaneously decomposes into a relatively short-lived daughter radionuclide. The trajectory of movement of the fluid medium stretches from the inlet channel to the column and then to the outlet channel and provides for the possibility of elution of the daughter radionuclide from the isotope generator for use. The proper chemical composition of the tower content is also preserved by prevention to accumulation of excessive moisture in the column.
EFFECT: possibility to provide for higher and more stable volume of daughter radionuclide release from an isotope generator, prevention of ingress of fluid medium in a liquid form into a trajectory of movement of a fluid medium, for instance, during sterilisation and improved retention of a parent radionuclide in a tower.
