FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: fastening element is made as protruding beyond the limits of the insulator in the point of fixation to a grounded structure, the surface of the fastening element is coated with a film of even thickness from current-conducting material, on the protruding part of the fastening element a metal conductor is rigidly fixed, the other end of which via a signal device is connected to a grounded structure. The device makes it possible to detect a defect of an insulator due to usage of ground fault current, i.e. due to a defect of an insulator itself, and to eliminate use of control and measurement equipment.

EFFECT: application of a signal device will considerably reduce the time for searching of a damaged insulator and may prevent emergency condition of a power supply system.
