SUBSTANCE: invention relates to automatic folding umbrellas, having a mechanism for automatic opening and closing of the frame. The object of the invention is to provide an umbrella with an ability of the sliding rod to move in only one direction, improving the safety of the umbrella. The automatic folding umbrella comprises means of resistance to self-produced movement, which enables to avoid unexpected extension of the sliding rod and infliction of injury to the person who is next, when putting up the umbrella. The said means of resistance to self-produced movement comprises mainly a rope, a drum wheel, a coil spring and a pawl. The drum wheel and the pawl are connected in the form of a ratchet and controlled by the shut-off head. The rope passes through the sliding rod, and its end is wound on the said drum wheel. By setting the ratchet mechanism and the coil spring, the sliding rod is able to move unidirectionally and gradually be retracted, improving the safety of the umbrella.

EFFECT: creation of the umbrella with the ability of the sliding rod to move only in one direction, improving the safety of the umbrella.
