FIELD: fire prevention facilities.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of providing fire safety and explosion safety, and in particular to methods of preventing ignition, explosion and detonation of hydrogen-air mixtures. The method of preventing detonation and destruction of stationary detonation wave lies in adding of inhibitor - propane or mixture of propane-butane into a hydrogen-air mixture. The components are mixed, the mixture is exposed to ensure complete mixing of its composing components, and the mixture is fed into the reactor evacuated to a pressure of 100 Pa, and a section of initiation evacuated to a pressure from 80 to 90 kPa. The section of initiation is filled with stoichiometric oxygen-hydrogen explosive mixture until achievement of the total pressure in the reactor and the section of initiation of 100 kPa. The detonation is initiated in the explosive mixture and it is recorded in the test inflammable mixture. The ratio of components in the test mixtures, in vol.%: hydrogen is 25.0-55.0, propane is not less than 2.5, air is up to 100 or hydrogen is 20.0-57.0, propane-butane is at least 2.5, air is up to 100. The mixing time of gaseous components of the test mixtures is not less than 15 hours.
EFFECT: ability of use of cheaper and more affordable inhibitor that has less chemical aggressiveness to the materials.
