FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy. Liquid metal is cast into metallic mould composed of split segments and cured to obtain hardened cup-shape crust. Mould segments are opened to flood said crust with coolant to 0.65-0.85 of its height. Crust is cooled to 200-400°C to withdraw coolant and cast from the mould.
EFFECT: casts with superfine microstructure.
