FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building. Proposed method comprises cutting by rotary cutter. Said rotary cutter has three cutting edges. Two cutting edges cut simultaneously appropriate surfaces of two teeth. Third cutting edge cut the tooth sockets. Third cutting edge of rotary tool is located on diametrically opposite side from cutting edge tops cutting surfaces of teeth. Third cutting edge is located parallel with tool rotary axis is located at distance α from said axis defined by the equation: α=0.5i-0.5dƒ(1-cosγ)+Δ, where γ=arcsin(c/0.5dƒ); c is spacing of tops of cutting edges cutting tooth surface from perpendicular between tool and splined shaft rotary axes, mm; dƒ is diameter of the circle of splined shaft sockets, mm; Δ=0.2÷0.6 is correction, mm; di is diameter of the surface whereat cutting edge tops are located.
EFFECT: sufficient precision of shaft splines parameters.
