SUBSTANCE: described are vanadium catalyst systems which consist of a vanadium complex, a cocatalyst and a reactivator, where the vanadium compound used is the following vanadium complexes:

Also described is a method of producing an ethylene and α-olefin copolymer with a hydrocarbon chain containing 2-12 carbon atoms, using the disclosed vanadium catalyst systems in the medium of a hydrocarbon solvent in a temperature interval from 0 to 80°C and monomer pressure in the range from 0.1 to 1.1 MPa in the presence of a chain-terminating agent.

EFFECT: high activity of the catalyst system, which is maintained for the entire duration of the copolymerisation process, reduced consumption of components of the catalyst system, reduced content of vanadium in the end product and the obtained polymer has statistical distribution of comonomers and a narrow molecular weight distribution.
