SUBSTANCE: described is a method of producing an aqueous emulsion of alkyd resin, which involves feeding and mixing in a reactor an oil-containing component and glycerine, heating the mixture to 245-260°C, followed by esterification with addition of isophthalic acid and vinylation with addition of vinyl toluene and di-tert-butyl peroxide, the method being characterised by that vinylation is followed by emulsification in the presence of a surfactant, adding water and adjusting pH with ammonia, followed by an inversion step and addition of biocides.
EFFECT: method excludes organic solvents and enables to obtain an emulsion with a long shelf life.
