SUBSTANCE: method of coordinating base station operation, which is carried out using a functional entity of a wireless communication system, involves receiving at the functional entity channel state information relating to a plurality of wireless communication channels between a plurality of base stations and a plurality of mobile devices. A few candidate sets of base stations are selected from the plurality of base stations and for each of the candidate sets, the corresponding subsets of mobile devices are selected for association with the corresponding candidate sets. Selection of candidate sets and corresponding subsets of mobile devices is carried out using channel state information by selecting one of the candidate sets of base stations such that the selected candidate set has the highest overall rate of transmitting to the corresponding subset of mobile devices. The information is transmitted with indication of the selected candidate set and the corresponding subset of mobile devices to base stations in the selected candidate set.
EFFECT: high rate of transmission through dynamic coordination using a candidate set.
