FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming and can be used, in particular, for die forging of crankshafts. For analysis of metal flow at hot forging metallic billet with cavity along its axis is used. Bar and one or several tubes aligned therewith are fitted in the billet with interference. Said bar an tubes are made of steels with different chemical composition that differs from that of the billet. Billet is subjected to hot forming to produce a forged piece. The latter is cut in critical sections to make macro sections. Said macro sections are etched by etchants to analyse distribution of bar and tube metals in forged piece to allow judgment about metal flow in hot forming.
EFFECT: higher precision of metal flow definition.
