FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to machine building industry. A shock absorber includes a cylindrical housing with a compensating chamber, which is filled with magnetic liquid. A hollow stock with a piston assembly is arranged in the housing. The piston consists of two parts put one into another, installed with gaps and forming a system of alternating poles. Each part of the piston includes a pole disc with pole pins. The value of gaps between end faces of pole pins and pole discs of opposite parts of the piston is larger by 3-4 times than the value of gaps between pole pins. A magnetising coil is equipped with a sealed non-magnetic cylindrical casing and located in a cavity formed with a stock and pole discs with pole pins. The housing is made from non-magnetic material. The piston is installed in the housing with a gap.
EFFECT: enlarging the range of changes of power characteristic and increasing service life of a shock absorber.
